Watchdog explains Google.ru troubles by small operators’ filters

MOSCOW, Apr 23 (PRIME) -- The Russian communications service has attributed unavailability of Google.ru pages for some users to imperfection of a traffic filtration system at small connection operators, the watchdog said on Monday on its Web site.

The authority also denied the information about blocking of Google’s captcha resources because of a set of measures taken to limit access to popular messenger Telegram, which was closed in the country earlier in April.

“Problems with access to the (Google.ru) page can appear at an insignificant number of small operators that still lack a complete system of filtration,” the authority said.

The communications watchdog earlier added a number of Google’s IP addresses to the register of banned information because the U.S. company let Telegram use them to skirt the blocking.

“In view of publication of information on limitation of access to network resources of Google, we notify that IP addresses of Web versions of Google Play and Google Driver were not added to the register of banned information and were not sent out to connection operators for blocking,” the watchdog also said in a statement.

Mobile applications are available, the authority said.

E-mail service Gmail and popular video hosting YouTube were not added to the register of banned information either, the watchdog said.
